Kids delight in sharing their successful endeavors of day camp with their family. Eyes alight; their stories are recounted breathlessly as they re-live their experiences at Oasis Summer Day Camp.
Games won (or lost) in humorous fashion, friends made who share common or diverse experiences, and new skills learned open up exciting possibilities for them. Their experiences at Oasis Day Camp are tailored to be unique, educational, practical, but most of all – fun. The joys of the post-camp experience can be further enhanced when campers can actually show and share with their parents and siblings. Camp recipes are a great way to take camp back to their families, sharing the gift of food and the enjoyment of creating something new and delicious for those most important to them.
Today we share with you the “Canoena Delight”; The banana-based canoe with delectable passengers. It’s a fun campfire dessert that satisfies the sweet tooth and provides a potassium boost for your young active child. This treat can be made both in backyard fire pits and even in the oven at home.
1 ripe (but not overripe) fresh banana
2 teaspoons crunchy granola
2 teaspoons mini marshmallows
1 tablespoon M&Ms
Lay unpeeled banana on aluminum foil and cut a slice along the length of the banana. Pull apart slightly and evenly place granola, marshmallows, and M&Ms in the “canoe’s” opening. Wrap in aluminum foil leaving twisted foil at each end for handling. Place over hot coals for about 10 minutes or in the oven at 350 for about 7 minutes. Grab a spoon, unwrap and enjoy!
